R.A.I.D. is Random Acts of Irreverent Dance, a performance collective on a mission to promote body positivity, manifest radical inclusivity, foster creative empowerment with  playful irreverence -- all through dance-based performance.

RAID creates outrageous and one-of-a-kind performance experiences for music festivals, dance clubs, conferences, corporate and private events. We raise the roof and erase the line between dancer and audience, performance and celebration.  We'd love to help you realize your dreams for a unique and truly magical experience at your next event.

“The madness usually gets topped off around midnight when R.A.I.D. (Random Acts of Irreverent Dance) takes the stage for interpretive movement that’s as sassy and scrambled as the music creators A+D and DJ Paul V. provide on the decks.” - LA Weekly

Our Story...

RAID was conceived over a decade ago when three pretty disparate ideas: flash mobs, Burning Man, and Brazilian experimental theater, all came together in my head to ignite a radical new idea: why not revolutionize the exclusive, classist, sexist, racist, ageist, sizeist arena of dance performance and bust it wide open?   In flash mobs I saw visions of breaking down the barriers between dancers and “non-dancers,” of bringing dance performance out of institutions to everywhere people gather.  The notion radical inclusivity (introduced to me at Burning Man) made me wonder what dance could look like if everyone who felt they weren’t good enough, thin enough, young enough, “whatever” enough to enjoy performing dance could do just that?  What if, like inspiring Brazilian artist Augusto Boal does in his theater works, we erased the lines between performer and audience, so everyone who wants to could dance?  In this moment of revelation I knew that Random Acts of Irreverent Dance could no longer just sit in my head as a clever acronym. It was time to RAID the dance floor…

Twelve years and over 100 dancers on our roster later, R.A.I.D. continues to perform in clubs, at music festivals, for television shows and music videos, along with a variety of private events.  RAID has brought an ever-evolving sense of vitality to the stage: combining free-form dance with choreographed pieces tailor-made for each performance opportunity one glitter-soaked dance at time.  Along the way, we have danced with some of the biggest names in electronic music like David Guetta, Benny Benassi, Kaskade, and Jack Ü as well as Los Angeles-based alternative bands Mini Mansions, Fever The Ghost and LA Font. We’ve been the resident dance crew at Bootie LA for thirteen years, performing every Saturday at various venues all over Los Angeles.  We’ve also hit the road to entertain for thousands at massive events like Desert Daze, Electric Daisy Carnival, Nocturnal Wonderland, HARD Summer, Comic-Con and E3.

In 2013 we RAIDed television when we were a featured act on “America’s Got Talent,” and we continue to foster new creative outlets for our members across media.  All these years later, we still put on one HELL of a live show plucking dancers out of the audience and giving them a vehicle for their imaginations to soar. RAID does all of this with body positivity, an outrageous sense of humor and an embrace of difference that creates room for every body.

In Random Acts of Irreverent Dance, we welcome the revolution.
